Harry Potter Things in London: What All True Fans Must See!
Does anyone else think of Harry Potter things in London when they think of London Town…? I mean, I think of other London-y things too like Parliament, Tower Bridge, red double decker buses, The Globe Theatre, etc, but Harry Potter pops into my mind as well… So if you’re like me and we share that same Harry Potter/London association, here’s a little list of Harry Potter things in London to check out on your next visit. š
Platform 9 3/4
No Harry Potter fan’s trip to London is complete without a picture at Platform 9 3/4. Head to King’s Cross Station and look for the small line of people towards the left side of the train station’s departure board. You’ll find a trolley, fun props like wands and scarves, a professional who will take pictures for you, and an entire Platform 9 3/4 store filled with all kinds of cool Harry Potter themed merchandise. Need I say more? ;]
Harry Potter Filming Site TourĀ
I haven’t done this myself but something I’d LOVE to do on my next trip to London is take a tour of the Harry Potter filming sites in London. If you’re interested in checking out what tours might be available I would recommend looking into these options on Viator. Viator is a tour booking site I’ve had really great experiences with, and I’m confident that when I DO take a filming site tour it will be one from this website.
Warner Bros. Studio Tour London
The Warner Brothers Studio tour in London is where you can see all the sets, costumes, props and more from the movies! The Great Hall, Hogwarts Express, Gryffindor Common Room, and behind-the-scenes movie magic you get to see on this tour make it a MUST for any Harry Potter fan.
Itās a little tricky to get to by public transit so I always recommend booking a “tour” through a website (like Viator). The “tour” includes transportation to and from the studio as well as your entrance ticket. Once youāre inside the studio itself itās all self guided, so really the big draw in booking your ticket as a tour is that it includes transportation. (IT’S WORTH IT.)
“Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” Play
Yes I love Harry Potter but aside from that fact which could make me sound biased, this play is absolutely INCREDIBLE. From a theatrical stand point alone it’s mind blowing. And I studied theatre in college, so that makes me a pro on this subject! (Not really). Moral of the story: if you also love Harry Potter you should definitely see this play. It’s the 8th part of the story and it does NOT disappoint.
You can purchase your tickets from the official website but if you can’t find the tickets you’re looking for there, you can also check for tickets on the resale website called Viagogo. **I bought my tickets from Viagogo because tickets on the official website were sold out for months during the times I saw the show, and I can attest to the fact that I had good experiences with their service.**
Happy Harry Potter-ing, friends! Safe travels.
