Tulips in Downtown Chicago: The Best Places to See Them
Iām going to let you in on a seemingly little known secretā¦ Every Spring during the last few weeks of April to the first few weeks of May you can find almost every planter box and flower bed FILLED with gorgeous tulips in downtown Chicago. You can! Itās true! I look forward to this every year. And I’ve learned my favorite (and obviously the best š) places to see the tulips in downtown Chicago. So if you find yourself in they Windy City during the precious few weeks that the tulips are in season, make sure to check them out in these places:
š· On State Street in front of and nearby The Chicago Theatre.
š· In the median in front of Millenium Park.
*Note that this median is in the middle of a busy street. Be sure to keep yourself and your belongings clear of nearby passing cars as you’re taking photos.*
š· Millenium Park.
*The best place for photos here are the flower beds along the pathways leading up to the Bean.*
š· In the median on Michigan Ave just before crossing E. Wacker Dr heading north. (The Wrigley building will be in front of you).
*My personal experience is that it’s easier to take photos here with my phone. Stand on the edge of the flower bed and lean over as far as possible with your phone to get close up pictures of the tulips and buildings in the background.*
š· In the median and in front of both the Wrigley building and Apple store near the DuSable Bridge.
*This is one of the easier places to get great photos of the tulips. Try finding an angle of the tulips that covers the cars and people in the background.*
š· In front of the stores on the Magnificant Mile (Michigan Ave).
*This is another easy place to get photos of the tulips. It’s especially great for close ups.*
And those are my go-to places for seeing tulips in downtown Chicago every year! (And they’ve never disappointed). Every year the color combinations and variations of tulip types planted in the flower beds seem to change. So seeing them again every year just doesn’t get old. I hope you enjoy seeing them as much as I do.
Safe travels friends.
